The Lake Alqueva

Lake Alqueva is the largest European artificial lake, the largest artificial lakes in Europe, built on the River Guadiana, across the border between Portugal and Spain. Lake Alqueva is now a top-rated touristic destination having optimal conditions for outdoor activities and sports (sailing, water-skiing and wakeboarding, canoe, kayak, hiking and biking). The project Dark Sky Alqueva, the first starlight tourism destination in the world, was included by National Geographic in the seven best places in the world to see the Stars (2016) and awarded in Brussels as “ETIS Social & Cultural Impact Achiever” by the European Commission (2016).
